Will additional fees be incurred for any Hydrodog training required beyond the initial training?

Hydrodog Franchise · 2025 FDD

Answer from 2025 FDD Document

    1. The Initial Training Fee covers our expenses in providing training to you. If you choose to bring additional trainees then you will incur an additional Initial Training Fee per person. You will still be responsible for your travel and living expenses. Any training required beyond the initial training will be at your expense and will incur additional fees.
    1. Additional Funds is an estimate of the funds needed to cover business (not personal) expenses during the first 3 months of operation of your HydroDog Business. You will need capital to support on-going costs of your business. New businesses (franchised or not) often have larger expenses than revenues. As with most businesses, your costs will depend on factors such as how much you follow our recommended systems, your technical, marketing and general business skills, local economic conditions, the local market for your business, competition, local cost factors, location and the sales levels achieved by you. This is only an estimate, and we cannot guarantee that the amounts specified will be adequate.

What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Hydrodog's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, additional fees will be incurred for any training required beyond the initial training. The document specifies that the initial training fee covers Hydrodog's expenses for providing the initial training. If a franchisee chooses to bring additional trainees, they will incur an additional initial training fee per person, and they will still be responsible for their travel and living expenses.

Furthermore, if a prospective Hydrodog franchisee does not have at least 5 years of grooming experience or is not a certified groomer, they will need to pay $2,500 for the Initial Tools Package. If the franchisee is not already a dog groomer, they must hire a lead groomer and complete Hydrodog's designated online grooming training program, which is estimated to cost between $1,000 and $3,000, prior to the initial training. If the franchisee is already a dog groomer, they must pass a skills assessment. If they fail to meet Hydrodog's standards in the skills assessment, they will be required to attend a dog grooming academy of Hydrodog's choosing at their own expense before the initial training.

In summary, while the initial training fee is $5,000, franchisees should be aware of potential additional costs for training, including the online grooming training program, the dog grooming academy, and additional initial training fees for additional trainees. These costs can vary depending on the franchisee's experience and the number of trainees attending the initial training.
