What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to the 2025 Healthsource Chiropractic Franchise Disclosure Document, a Business Associate can disclose Protected Health Information (PHI) for the proper management and administration of the Business Associate under specific conditions. The Business Associate can disclose PHI if the disclosures are required by law. Additionally, the Business Associate can disclose PHI if it obtains reasonable assurances from the person or entity to whom the PHI is disclosed.

These assurances must guarantee that the information will remain confidential and be used or further disclosed only as required by law or for the purposes for which it was disclosed to the person or entity. The person or entity receiving the PHI must also notify the Business Associate of any instances in which it is aware that the confidentiality of the PHI has been breached.

This stipulation ensures that Healthsource Chiropractic franchisees, acting as Business Associates, adhere to HIPAA regulations when handling patient information. It sets clear guidelines for when and how PHI can be disclosed for administrative purposes, emphasizing the importance of confidentiality and legal compliance. This protects patient privacy and reduces the risk of legal repercussions for the franchisee.
