When must the Healthsource Chiropractic Business Associate update erroneous or incomplete PHI?

According to the 2025 Healthsource Chiropractic Franchise Disclosure Document, the Business Associate must update erroneous or incomplete Protected Health Information (PHI) when notified by the Covered Entity. The Covered Entity, in this case, is the franchisee. The Business Associate must also make reasonable efforts to notify persons, organizations, or other entities known to have received the erroneous or incomplete information and who may have relied on it to the detriment of the individual patient.

If Healthsource Chiropractic receives a request for amendment to PHI directly from an individual patient, Healthsource Chiropractic must forward such request to the franchisee (Covered Entity) within ten business days. The franchisee then has the sole responsibility for determining whether to approve an amendment to PHI and to make such amendment.

This means that while Healthsource Chiropractic is responsible for the technical aspects of updating the information, the franchisee maintains control over the decision-making process regarding amendments to patient information.
