What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Healthsource Chiropractic's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, when the Business Associate discloses PHI (Protected Health Information) for its own management, administration, or to fulfill legal responsibilities, it must obtain certain assurances. Specifically, unless the disclosure is required by law, the Business Associate must get reasonable assurances from the recipient.

These assurances must guarantee that the information will remain confidential and only be used or further disclosed as required by law or for the purposes for which it was originally disclosed. Furthermore, the recipient must notify the Business Associate of any known breaches in the confidentiality of the PHI.

This requirement ensures that patient information is protected even when shared for administrative or legal reasons, aligning with HIPAA regulations and safeguarding patient privacy. For a Healthsource Chiropractic franchisee, this means implementing procedures to document and verify these assurances whenever PHI is disclosed to external parties for these purposes.
