What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Hawthorn Suites By Wyndham's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, Hawthorn Suites By Wyndham does place some restrictions on purchasing. Specifically, franchisees must purchase or obtain certain designated goods and services only from suppliers that Hawthorn Suites By Wyndham approves.
These designated goods and services include proprietary items, items that bear or depict the Marks (such as signage), items that potentially impact life/safety, or technology required by System Standards. However, franchisees can purchase other items for the Facility from any source they choose, as long as these items meet or exceed the System Standards.
This means a Hawthorn Suites By Wyndham franchisee does not have complete autonomy in selecting vendors. They must adhere to the approved supplier list for specific items critical to the brand and operation. This ensures consistency and quality across all franchised locations, but it also limits the franchisee's ability to negotiate prices or use local suppliers for certain goods and services. Franchisees should carefully review the list of designated goods and services and approved suppliers to understand the potential impact on their operating costs and supply chain.
