Training Programs. We require your Designated Principal, and any of your other Controlling Principals that we designate, to complete a Hawaiian Bros orientation program within two months of signing a Development Agreement, and before assuming control of any Restaurant. (Development Agreement, Section 2) The orientation activities are separate from the required restaurant training, both of which are described in the table below. The orientation program includes approximately 16 hours of orientation and onboarding, two days of which are located at a designated Restaurant location and/or any other designated facility in the Kansas City metropolitan area, where you will meet Hawaiian Bros leadership and begin to learn requirements, systems and processes to become a Hawaiian Bros franchisee.
We will also provide restaurant training to your Designated Principal, any other Controlling Principal that we may require to complete such training, and all of your salaried managers, including General Manager and Assistant General Manager. All of your salaried managers will be required to complete the designated training program to our satisfaction and become certified by Hawaiian Bros training department.

What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to the 2025 Hawaiian Bros Island Grill FDD, the orientation activities for new franchisees include two days at a designated Restaurant location and/or any other designated facility in the Kansas City metropolitan area. This is where new franchisees will meet Hawaiian Bros Island Grill leadership and begin to learn the requirements, systems, and processes to become a franchisee.
Furthermore, to become a certified Training Manager, a manager must complete eight weeks of Manager in Training (MIT) at a certified training location. They also need to participate in a minimum of three New Restaurant Openings (NROs) with a Senior Manager of Training or the Director of Restaurant Training.
Therefore, Hawaiian Bros Island Grill uses specific certified training locations and new restaurant opening sites to train franchisees and managers. The FDD mentions the Kansas City metropolitan area as a location for initial orientation. However, the specific locations of certified training restaurants for the eight-week MIT program or the locations for NROs are not detailed in this document. A prospective franchisee should ask the franchisor for a list of certified training locations.
