What This Means (2025 FDD)

The 2025 Goldfish Swim School Franchise Disclosure Document (FDD) does not explicitly state a specific page that generally discusses compliance with the law. However, Item 22 includes addenda to the Area Development Agreement that address specific state laws, such as those in Rhode Island and Hawaii, indicating that compliance with state-specific franchise laws is a consideration within the franchise agreement. These addenda modify the agreement to ensure adherence to local regulations, particularly concerning franchise investment laws, nonrenewal, termination, and transfer rights.

Furthermore, the receipt included in Item 22 mentions that a violation of federal and state law may have occurred if the Disclosure Document is not delivered on time or contains false statements or omissions. It also advises reporting such violations to the Federal Trade Commission and the State Administrator listed in Exhibit A. This highlights the importance of legal compliance in the franchise sales process and the franchisee's rights in case of non-compliance.

While a dedicated section on general legal compliance is not evident, the FDD addresses legal considerations within specific contexts, such as state-specific addenda and the implications of non-compliance with disclosure requirements. A prospective franchisee should consult with a franchise attorney to ensure full understanding of all applicable laws and regulations governing their Goldfish Swim School franchise.
