What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to the 2025 Goldfish Swim School FDD, the Brand Fund contribution is collected in the same manner as royalty payments. Franchisees are required to contribute to the System-wide Brand Fund, which is administered by an affiliate of Goldfish Swim School, to assist in system-wide marketing efforts.
For the first 90 days after opening or 600 days after signing the Franchise Agreement (whichever comes first), franchisees must pay the greater of $450 per month or up to 3% of gross sales (currently set at 2%). After this initial period, the contribution increases to the greater of $1,300 per month or up to 3% of gross sales (still currently at 2%). All franchisees contribute to the Brand Fund at the same rate.
This Brand Fund is intended to be perpetual, though Goldfish Swim School retains the right to terminate it if necessary. If terminated, all contributions and earnings must be used for advertising and promotional purposes or returned to the franchisees on a pro rata basis. Goldfish Swim School ensures that all swim schools owned by them or their affiliates also contribute to the Brand Fund on the same basis as required of franchisees.
