What certifications are included in the initial training provided by Goldfish Swim School?

This training includes a shallow water attendant certificate, which certifies you in CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation), First Aid, AED (automated external defibrillator), and also provides a lifeguarding certification for shallow water pools.
Other certifications like CPO (certified pool operations) may be required, but not provided during this training period.
This training is described in detail later in this ITEM. (Section 8.1).
If the above referenced certifications are not provided during initial training, you must obtain such certifications prior to the opening of your Franchised Swim School.

What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to the 2025 Goldfish Swim School FDD, the initial training program includes a shallow water attendant certificate. This certificate covers CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation), First Aid, AED (automated external defibrillator), and also provides a lifeguarding certification specifically for shallow water pools.
Prospective franchisees should note that while the initial training provides these specific certifications, other certifications, such as CPO (certified pool operations), may be required but are not necessarily provided during the initial training period. If these additional certifications are not included in the initial training, franchisees are responsible for obtaining them before opening their Goldfish Swim School location.
The initial training is approximately 13 days and is held at Goldfish Swim School's headquarters in Troy, Michigan, or other designated locations. The Control Person, Designated Manager, and at least one other required manager must attend and successfully complete the training. Franchisees are responsible for covering all travel and living expenses for themselves and their attendees during the training period. An additional week of training for the E&A Lifeguard Instructor Certification is available at the franchisee's option to train managers to perform lifeguard certifications for staff.
