What This Means (2024 FDD)
According to Golden Krust Caribbean Restaurant's 2024 Franchise Disclosure Document, there are no additional fees for the initial training program itself. However, franchisees are responsible for covering all travel and living expenses incurred during the training period for themselves and their managerial employee. If the franchisee or their managing owner fails to complete the initial training to Golden Krust Caribbean Restaurant's satisfaction, the Franchise Agreement can be terminated.
The initial training covers various aspects of restaurant operations, including equipment selection, supplier management, cooking processes, merchandising, marketing, accounting, and basic management. This training is provided for the franchisee (or their managing owner) and one managerial employee at locations and times designated by Golden Krust Caribbean Restaurant.
The training program includes both classroom and on-the-job training. The classroom training involves 40 hours, while on-the-job training accounts for 120 hours. The training takes place at the Golden Krust Caribbean Restaurant training facility in Bronx, NY, or at the franchisee's Restaurant. The training subjects include pre-opening activities, design and construction, hospitality standards, food safety and sanitation, employee safety and security, personnel management, finance and accounting, marketing and public relations, culinary skills, and operations.
If a Golden Krust Caribbean Restaurant franchisee completes training but their restaurant does not open within 6 to 9 months after training completion, they will need to retake the pre-opening and store operations training. Ongoing support and refresher training are provided as staff changes occur and as new systems, products, and procedures are introduced. Franchisees are responsible for all travel and lodging expenses associated with attending refresher training.
