What This Means (2024 FDD)

According to Golden Krust Caribbean Restaurant's 2024 Franchise Disclosure Document, the franchisee is responsible for developing the restaurant. This encompasses various aspects, including securing financing, obtaining necessary permits and licenses, constructing improvements, purchasing fixtures and equipment, and acquiring an initial inventory. Golden Krust Caribbean Restaurant will provide sample drawings and specifications for the restaurant's design, image, and other requirements at no cost to the franchisee. However, the franchisee must build or renovate the restaurant according to plans pre-approved by Golden Krust Caribbean Restaurant.

This means that while Golden Krust Caribbean Restaurant offers guidance and specifications, the franchisee bears the primary responsibility for bringing the restaurant to fruition. This includes managing the financial and logistical aspects of the development process. The franchisee must also submit construction plans for approval, ensuring compliance with Golden Krust Caribbean Restaurant's standards.

This arrangement is typical in franchising, where the franchisee invests capital and effort to establish a location while adhering to the franchisor's brand standards and operational guidelines. The franchisee's success depends on their ability to manage the development process effectively and meet Golden Krust Caribbean Restaurant's requirements. Failure to adhere to these standards can result in the restaurant not being approved for opening.

Golden Krust Caribbean Restaurant retains the right to approve the developed restaurant before it opens for business. The restaurant must be developed according to their specifications and standards. Additionally, pre-opening training must be completed to their satisfaction, and all due payments must be made. The franchisee must also furnish copies of all required insurance policies. The franchisee must open the restaurant within 180 days after site approval and 5 days after notification that all conditions have been met.
