How long does Golden Corral approval take for new suppliers?

Golden_Corral Franchise · 2025 FDD

Answer from 2025 FDD Document

All approval criteria are available to franchisees. Approval for new or alternative products takes approximately 3 to 4 months; approval for new suppliers generally takes from 2 weeks to 4 months. Products which involve a significant deviation from the System will take longer to approve. Approval of products or suppliers may be revoked if the product or suppliers fail to meet Golden Corral's standards of quality, specifications, or service; if Golden Corral no longer promotes the product; or if the supplier no longer meets Golden Corral's minimum criteria for approval. If you desire to purchase an Item from an unapproved source (and assuming we have not designated a specific source for the Item), you must submit to Golden Corral a written request for approval, or must request the supplier itself to do so. Golden Corral will have the right to require that its representatives be permitted to inspect the supplier's facilities and that samples be delivered either to Golden Corral or to an independent laboratory designated by Golden Corral for testing. You or the supplier must pay a charge not to exceed the reasonable cost of the inspection and the actual cost of the test. If your request involves a new menu offering, then you also must reimburse us for our costs in obtaining detailed nutritional information about the menu offering.

What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Golden Corral's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, the approval process for new suppliers typically takes between 2 weeks and 4 months. However, the approval timeline can be longer, exceeding 4 months, if the products involve a significant deviation from the established Golden Corral system standards.

Prospective Golden Corral franchisees should understand that they are generally required to purchase items used in the operation of their restaurant from suppliers approved by Golden Corral. This requirement ensures that all suppliers meet Golden Corral's standards for quality, service, and pricing. If a franchisee wishes to use a supplier that is not already approved, they must submit a written request to Golden Corral for approval, or the supplier can request approval themselves.

The approval process may involve Golden Corral inspecting the supplier's facilities and testing product samples, with the franchisee or supplier bearing the costs of these inspections and tests. It's important for potential franchisees to factor in this approval timeline when planning their restaurant's supply chain and to communicate proactively with Golden Corral regarding any desired new suppliers. This ensures compliance with Golden Corral's standards and helps maintain the consistency and quality of the Golden Corral brand.

Golden Corral retains the right to revoke approval of products or suppliers if they fail to meet the company's standards, specifications, or service requirements, if Golden Corral no longer promotes the product, or if the supplier no longer meets the minimum criteria for approval. This ongoing evaluation underscores the importance of maintaining high standards and consistent performance among all approved suppliers.
