Answer from 2024 FDD Document

The postural methods and related techniques that we teach and that franchisees teach, and the products that we and franchisees sell are intended primarily for restoring the body's primal architecture and movement patterns. The methods, techniques and products offered by a Franchised Business are not generally known to the public. Courses in techniques and methods aiming to address the same issues are available in various locations throughout the world. Esther Gokhale has extensively researched postural methods and programs for teaching posture over the last 30 years. She has taught the Gokhale Method throughout the United States and in various parts of the world; the Gokhale Method is the subject of her book, 8 Steps to a Pain-Free Back, which has been widely advertised and distributed in the last fifteen years; she has also shown the Gokhale Method through national television and DVDs of these programs are being sold. There have been no claims that the Gokhale Method infringes any other technique, program or method, and we have no reason to believe that such claims would or could be made. The market for our services is not seasonal.

What This Means (2024 FDD)

According to the 2024 Gokhale Method Franchise Disclosure Document, the postural methods, techniques, and products taught and sold by Gokhale Method franchisees are primarily intended for restoring the body's primal architecture and movement patterns. The FDD states that these methods, techniques, and products are not generally known to the public, although courses addressing similar issues are available worldwide. Esther Gokhale, the founder, has researched postural methods for 30 years and has presented the Gokhale Method in her book, "8 Steps to a Pain-Free Back," and through national television appearances.

For a prospective franchisee, this means that the core offering of a Gokhale Method franchise is focused on a specific approach to posture and movement aimed at restoring the body's natural alignment. The FDD emphasizes that the Gokhale Method is a unique system, although it acknowledges the existence of other posture-related programs.

It's important for potential franchisees to understand the competitive landscape, as mentioned in Item 1 of the FDD, which includes various wellness practitioners and products aimed at alleviating back pain. Despite the competition, the Gokhale Method emphasizes its unique approach developed by Esther Gokhale, suggesting a specific market position. The FDD also states that there have been no claims that the Gokhale Method infringes any other technique, program or method, and they have no reason to believe that such claims would or could be made.
