What This Means (2024 FDD)
According to Gokhale Method's 2024 Franchise Disclosure Document, Gokhale Method or its affiliate owns the goodwill associated with the Marks. The agreement specifies that Gokhale Method has the right to use and license others to use the Marks. The agreement explicitly states that the franchisee's use of the Marks does not grant them any ownership interest.
The Gokhale Method franchise agreement clarifies that any goodwill resulting from a franchisee's use of Gokhale Method's Marks accrues exclusively to the benefit of Gokhale Method. Upon termination or expiration of the franchise agreement, the franchisee will not receive any monetary compensation or value attributed to the goodwill associated with their use of the Gokhale Method system or Marks.
This clause is standard in most franchise agreements. It ensures that the value and reputation of the brand remain with the franchisor, Gokhale Method, rather than individual franchisees. This protects the consistency and integrity of the brand across all franchise locations. Prospective franchisees should understand that while they contribute to building the brand's reputation within their territory, the monetary value of that goodwill ultimately belongs to Gokhale Method.
