What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Focus Cfo's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, the Area President and CFO roles have distinct responsibilities. The Area President's primary focus is on business development and client management, while the CFO focuses on providing financial services to clients. Area Presidents are responsible for lead generation, recruiting CFOs, and developing a client base through networking and business development. They also maintain a 'Cookbook' outlining their business development activities and manage an 'Area Plan' that includes networking contacts. Area Presidents communicate regularly with CFOs about the services provided to clients and assist in identifying and interviewing potential CFOs. They also coordinate and lead marketing activities.
In contrast, the CFOs perform the actual CFO services for clients who have signed a Professional Services Agreement with Focus CFO. An Area President generally does not perform these CFO Services unless they obtain a separate CFO Licensing Agreement. An Area President can choose to provide CFO services on a limited basis or terminate their Area President agreement to become a licensed CFO.
In summary, the Area President role is geared towards sales, marketing, recruitment, and client relationship management, while the CFO role is centered on delivering the core financial services that Focus CFO offers. An Area President essentially builds and manages the business, while the CFO provides the technical expertise to service clients.
