What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to the 2025 Focalpoint Coaching Franchise Disclosure Document, the location of the franchised business can trigger the use of a rider to the franchise agreement. For example, if the Focalpoint Coaching business is to be located in Virginia, a rider to the franchise agreement is required. Similarly, a rider is required for businesses located in California, Minnesota, South Dakota, Illinois, Hawaii, North Dakota, Maryland, and Washington.

For the state of Washington, the rider is required if the franchised business is located in Washington, if the franchisee is a resident of Washington, or if any of the offering or sales activity related to the franchise agreement occurred in Washington. For Illinois, the rider is required if the offer or sale of the franchise was made in Illinois and the franchised business will be located in Illinois, or if the franchisee is a resident of Illinois. For South Dakota, the rider is required if the franchisee is a resident of South Dakota and the franchised business will be located in South Dakota, or if the offer or sale of the franchise was made in South Dakota.

These riders modify the standard Focalpoint Coaching franchise agreement to comply with specific state laws and regulations. Prospective franchisees should carefully review any state-specific riders to understand how they affect their rights and obligations. These riders often address topics such as initial fees, governing law, consent to jurisdiction, and waivers of certain legal rights, ensuring that the franchise agreement adheres to the legal requirements of the specific state in which the franchise is operated.
