8.2.1. Franchisee must obtain any architectural, engineering and design services it deems necessary for the construction and/or remodeling of the Franchised Business location, including the installation of signage, at its own expense from a reputable architectural, design and signage fabrication firm(s) approved by Franchisor. Franchisor shall provide Franchisee with guidance regarding architectural, design and signage plans and specifications for the Franchised Business location, and Franchisee shall submit proposed final plans to Franchisor or its designated representative for review and approval prior to commencing construction. Franchisee acknowledges that Franchisor's or its representative's review of such plans relates only to compliance with the System and that acceptance by Franchisor

What This Means (2024 FDD)
According to Fly Fitness's 2024 Franchise Disclosure Document, Fly Fitness does provide franchisees with guidance regarding architectural, design, and signage plans and specifications for the Franchised Business location. However, the franchisee is responsible for obtaining any architectural, engineering, and design services they deem necessary for construction or remodeling, including signage installation, at their own expense. These services must be sourced from firms approved by Fly Fitness.
Before starting construction, the franchisee must obtain all necessary permits, licenses, insurance, and certifications, including signage permits, and provide written certification of this to Fly Fitness. During construction or remodeling, franchisees must provide periodic progress reports to Fly Fitness and its representatives, who may also conduct on-site inspections to assess progress. The franchisee must notify Fly Fitness at least thirty days before the scheduled completion of construction or remodeling.
It is important to note that while Fly Fitness reviews the franchisee's proposed final plans, this review is only for compliance with the Fly Fitness system. Acceptance of the plans by Fly Fitness does not constitute a warranty or guarantee regarding the accuracy, error-free status, design, or structural application of the plans.
