What This Means (2024 FDD)
According to Fly Fitness's 2024 Franchise Disclosure Document, the franchisee (if an individual) or all owners (if the franchisee is a business entity) and the general manager must complete Fly Fitness's five-day Initial Management Training Program to the company's satisfaction before opening the franchised business. This training will be conducted at Fly Fitness's headquarters or another location at their discretion. The cost of instructors and training materials for up to three people is included in the initial franchise fee. However, franchisees are responsible for all travel and personal expenses, including transportation, meals, and lodging for themselves and their personnel. The current fee for initial training for any additional trainees is $400 per person. Fly Fitness also reserves the right to charge a reasonable fee to provide initial training to any manager appointed after the initial opening of the franchised business, with the current fee being $400 per trainer per day, plus travel and personal expenses for the manager.
In addition to the initial management training program, Fly Fitness will provide a trainer for on-site training, supervision, and assistance with daily operations, local marketing, and grand opening at the opening of the franchised business. This on-site training will be provided for up to five days at no additional cost to the franchisee.
Fly Fitness may also conduct mandatory or optional additional training programs, including an annual conference or national business meeting. If required, franchisees must attend mandatory training programs for up to three days each year, and an annual conference or national business meeting for up to three days each year, at a location designated by Fly Fitness. Failure to attend mandatory training, including an annual conference or business meeting, constitutes a default under the Franchise Agreement. Fly Fitness reserves the right to impose a reasonable fee for tuition and/or attendance for all additional training programs, including the annual business meeting or conference. Franchisees are also responsible for paying their transportation, lodging, meals, and other expenses to attend any mandatory training program. If a franchisee fails to attend any mandatory training program, they are required to obtain the training at a location designated by Fly Fitness, at their sole cost, which includes tuition at the then-current rate, plus all of their travel costs and Fly Fitness's trainer's travel costs.
