What This Means (2024 FDD)
According to Fly Fitness's 2024 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees are responsible for ensuring their coaches (and themselves, if they provide fitness instruction) obtain personal training certifications from a nationally recognized organization approved by Fly Fitness within 90 days of hiring. Furthermore, franchisees must ensure their coaches (and themselves, if applicable) attend any required continuing education or training programs to maintain these certifications, bearing the expense themselves.
This requirement ensures that all fitness instruction within the Fly Fitness system is delivered by qualified and certified professionals, maintaining a standard of quality and safety. The franchisee's responsibility extends not only to initial certification but also to the ongoing maintenance of those certifications through continuing education.
The franchisee bears the financial burden of both the initial certifications and the continuing education, which can add to the operational costs of the franchise. It is important for prospective franchisees to factor in these costs when evaluating the financial viability of the franchise. They should also inquire about the specific organizations approved by Fly Fitness for certifications and the typical costs associated with these programs.
Failure to comply with these certification requirements could result in a breach of the franchise agreement, as Fly Fitness emphasizes adherence to their standards for qualified personnel. This highlights the importance of diligent oversight and investment in employee training and certification to maintain compliance and uphold the brand's reputation.
