What This Means (2024 FDD)

According to Fly Fitness's 2024 Franchise Disclosure Document, a developer who signs a Multi-Unit Development Agreement acknowledges that the training received during the initial Franchise Agreement is sufficient to enable them to successfully manage all subsequent Fly Fitness locations within their development area. This means Fly Fitness multi-unit developers will only receive formal training when opening their first location.

Fly Fitness does not obligate itself to provide any further training for subsequent franchised businesses beyond the initial training. The developer explicitly waives any right to additional training outlined in subsequent Franchise Agreements. This waiver is based on the understanding that the initial training provides a comprehensive foundation for operating all Fly Fitness locations under the development agreement.

This approach is not uncommon in multi-unit franchising, where the initial training is designed to equip the franchisee with the knowledge and skills to replicate the business model across multiple locations. However, prospective Fly Fitness developers should carefully evaluate whether the scope and content of the initial training adequately prepares them for the challenges of managing multiple units, potentially across a large development area. It would be prudent to discuss the specifics of the initial training program with existing multi-unit developers to gauge its effectiveness.
