Does Flowerama reserve the right to reduce, defer, or waive the Initial Franchise Fee?

Flowerama Franchise · 2024 FDD

Answer from 2024 FDD Document

Qualified employees of 1-800-Flowers or its affiliates may pay reduced fees. Otherwise, all franchisees must pay the initial fees described in this Item 5. The Initial Franchise Fee and Fruit Bouquets Initial Franchise Fee are fully earned by us when paid and are not refundable under any circumstances. We use the proceeds from Initial Franchise Fees to defray a portion of our expenses in connection with the sale and establishment of franchises, such as: (i) costs related to developing and improving our services; (ii) expenses of preparing and registering this Disclosure Document; (iii) legal fees; (iv) accounting fees; (v) costs of obtaining and screening franchisees; and (vi) general administrative expenses. In the fiscal year ended June 30, 2024, we did not collect any initial franchise fees. We have the right to reduce, defer or waive the Initial Franchise Fee if and when we determine, in our sole discretion, that doing so is warranted by a given situation. There are no other required payments to or purchases from us or any of our affiliates before you begin operating as our franchisee.

What This Means (2024 FDD)

According to Flowerama's 2024 Franchise Disclosure Document, Flowerama retains the right to modify the Initial Franchise Fee under certain circumstances. Specifically, Flowerama has the discretion to reduce, defer, or waive the Initial Franchise Fee if it deems such action warranted by a particular situation. This flexibility is determined solely by Flowerama.

This provision offers a potential benefit to prospective Flowerama franchisees, as it opens the door for a possible reduction in the upfront costs associated with starting a franchise. However, it's important to note that this is not a guaranteed outcome, and the decision rests entirely with Flowerama. Franchisees should not rely on the possibility of a reduced fee when making their investment decision, but rather view it as a potential bonus.

In the franchise industry, it is not uncommon for franchisors to have some flexibility in setting initial fees based on individual circumstances or promotional offers. However, the specific criteria for such adjustments are usually not transparent. Prospective Flowerama franchisees should inquire about the conditions under which Flowerama might consider reducing, deferring, or waiving the Initial Franchise Fee to better understand their chances of qualifying for such an arrangement. It is also worth noting that in the fiscal year ended June 30, 2024, Flowerama did not collect any initial franchise fees.
