Does Flowerama offer reduced initial franchise fees to qualified employees of 1-800-Flowers or its affiliates?

Flowerama Franchise · 2024 FDD

Answer from 2024 FDD Document

Qualified employees of 1-800-Flowers or its affiliates may pay reduced fees. Otherwise, all franchisees must pay the initial fees described in this Item 5. The Initial Franchise Fee and Fruit Bouquets Initial Franchise Fee are fully earned by us when paid and are not refundable under any circumstances. We use the proceeds from Initial Franchise Fees to defray a portion of our expenses in connection with the sale and establishment of franchises, such as: (i) costs related to developing and improving our services; (ii) expenses of preparing and registering this Disclosure Document; (iii) legal fees; (iv) accounting fees; (v) costs of obtaining and screening franchisees; and (vi) general administrative expenses. In the fiscal year ended June 30, 2024, we did not collect any initial franchise fees. We have the right to reduce, defer or waive the Initial Franchise Fee if and when we determine, in our sole discretion, that doing so is warranted by a given situation.

What This Means (2024 FDD)

According to Flowerama's 2024 Franchise Disclosure Document, qualified employees of 1-800-Flowers or its affiliates may be eligible for reduced initial franchise fees. However, this is not a guaranteed benefit, as Flowerama retains the right to reduce, defer, or waive the initial franchise fee at its sole discretion, based on the specifics of each situation.

For prospective Flowerama franchisees who are employees of 1-800-Flowers or its affiliates, this presents a potential opportunity to lower the upfront investment required to start a franchise. It is important to note that the initial franchise fee is typically $35,000 for the first Standard Flowerama Center or Co-Brand Flowerama Center. For the second and any additional Standard Flowerama Centers or Co-Brand Flowerama Centers, the initial franchise fee is $17,500. There is also a $7,500 initial franchise fee for a Fruit Bouquets Franchise at one Flowerama Center and a $3,500 fee for each additional Flowerama Center.

The FDD specifies that all initial franchise fees are non-refundable. Flowerama uses these fees to cover expenses related to franchise sales and establishment, such as developing services, preparing the Disclosure Document, legal and accounting fees, screening franchisees, and general administration.

Prospective franchisees who are 1-800-Flowers employees should inquire with Flowerama about the specific requirements and process for obtaining a reduced initial franchise fee. They should not assume a reduction will automatically be granted, but rather treat it as a potential benefit to explore during their due diligence.
