What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to the 2025 Floors To Go Franchise Disclosure Document, details regarding the franchisee's territory are found in Schedule A, titled "Showroom Location and Your Territory." This schedule includes the street address of the Floors To Go Showroom and a description of the protected geographic area, referred to as "Your Territory," which is mutually agreed upon before the Membership Agreement is executed. A map delineating this protected geographic area is also attached to Schedule A.
The FDD specifies that if a franchisee establishes multiple showrooms simultaneously, each showroom is treated as a separate agreement, with rights and obligations governed accordingly. Floors To Go determines the territory based on factors like population, traffic flow, the presence of other businesses, competitor locations (including other showrooms), demographics, and overall market conditions. The territory's boundaries may be defined geographically, by streets, or using other criteria deemed appropriate by Floors To Go.
Floors To Go retains the right to modify the territory upon renewal or transfer of the franchise. If the territory is larger than the company's then-current standard for territories, Floors To Go may require the franchisee or transferee to accept a smaller territory upon renewal or transfer. While Floors To Go will not license another showroom within the franchisee's territory, franchisees may face competition from other outlets, including those franchised or owned by Floors To Go, or from other distribution channels or competitive brands controlled by the company, such as the FTG Shop At Home program. However, Floors To Go does not restrict franchisees from selling products for installation or marketing to customers outside their designated territory.
