What This Means (2024 FDD)
According to Fitstop's 2024 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees must maintain their premises and equipment to meet specific standards set by Fitstop. The franchisee is responsible for keeping the premises clean and ensuring it is maintained and equipped according to Fitstop's specifications, all at the franchisee's own cost. This includes ensuring that the premises, fixtures, fittings, and equipment comply with Fitstop's requirements and professional standards, and are operated and maintained in first-class condition and repair, adhering to industry standards for cleanliness and safety. Any deviations from these standards must be promptly corrected by the franchisee.
Furthermore, franchisees are required to replace flooring as specified by Fitstop if deemed necessary. They must also repair and replace fittings, fixtures, equipment, and lighting to comply with lease requirements, if applicable, and Fitstop's standards of presentation. To maintain the franchise system's professional image, franchisees must refurbish the premises to Fitstop's then-current specifications as reasonably requested.
Fitstop retains the right to modify brand standards, potentially requiring franchisees to upgrade the premises, furniture, fixtures, equipment, or other required items. Franchisees are responsible for performing these upgrades at their own cost within 180 calendar days of receiving notification from Fitstop, either through the manuals or in writing, as communicated to similarly-situated franchisees. These stipulations ensure uniformity and quality across all Fitstop franchise locations, but also place the financial burden of maintaining and upgrading the premises and equipment on the franchisee.
