What This Means (2024 FDD)
According to Fitstop's 2024 Franchise Disclosure Document, all franchisees must acquire and use the Required Software, including the POS cloud-based software associated with Fitstop's Current Billing/POS Provider, for all sales, client record management, and other business records related to the Franchised Business operations. While there are no specific brand or model requirements for the laptop or computer itself, the hardware must be capable of running all Required Software.
Fitstop franchisees should budget for the costs of the computer hardware and software. The FDD states that access to all current Required Software will be afforded to franchisees as part of the Technology Fee, which is currently 2% of Gross Revenue. Franchisees should also be aware that Fitstop may require updates and upgrades to the Computer System and/or Required Software from time to time during the term of the franchise agreement. These upgrades will be at the franchisee's expense, with reasonable advance notice provided.
Furthermore, if the POS system does not include it, franchisees are responsible for ensuring compliance with all payment card industry (PCI) and data security standard (DSS) standards, regulations, and requirements. This includes using all required tools, systems, and vendors to complete ongoing PCI requirements, such as quarterly external security scans and annual self-assessment questionnaires. Franchisees are solely responsible for all costs relating to PCI compliance and data security issues, including security threats, breaches, and malware. Franchisees must alert Fitstop within 24 hours following a suspected or confirmed data security breach.
