What is the purpose of the Fitstop Technology Fee?

You must at your cost: (1) install and use in the Franchise computer hardware and software which satisfies the functionality and specification requirements specified by us; (2) acquire and maintain software licenses in respect to all Required Software, whether covered by the Technology Fee or otherwise; and (3) change or upgrade any computer hardware or software used in the Franchise which we reasonably consider is obsolete or superseded, including installation of new computer hardware or software which satisfies the then current functionality and specification requirements specified by us.

What This Means (2024 FDD)
Based on the 2024 Fitstop Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees are required to acquire and maintain software licenses for all required software, whether or not it is covered by the Technology Fee. Fitstop may require franchisees to purchase computer hardware or license software directly from them or their approved suppliers. Franchisees must install and use the computer hardware and software that meets the functionality and specification requirements that Fitstop specifies for operating the franchise. Franchisees must also upgrade any computer hardware or software that Fitstop reasonably considers obsolete or superseded, including installing new hardware or software that meets Fitstop's current requirements.
If the required software is not covered by the Technology Fee, franchisees must pay the approved supplier directly for the licensing and other associated fees. Additionally, franchisees must ensure that all telephone and communications systems are secure from unauthorized access or use and pay all charges payable to any telecommunications service provider or any other person in connection with the use of these systems. Fitstop can require franchisees to transfer any communications number to them at any time and for any reason.
Fitstop also has the discretion to adopt advertising plans or materials and use them for their own benefit or disseminate them for use by other franchisees. Franchisees must comply with and actively participate in all sales, marketing, or promotional campaigns, programs, or activities conducted or reasonably required by Fitstop. Franchisees will have access to marketing, promotional, and presentation material, including template emails, scripts, and presentation packs, via the online system and manuals. Fitstop will pay the costs of such campaigns, programs, and activities using the marketing fees paid by franchisees, but they reserve the right to request additional payments from franchisees upon reasonable demand.
