What This Means (2024 FDD)
According to Fitstop's 2024 Franchise Disclosure Document, Fitstop and its affiliates may receive compensation from approved suppliers in the form of rebates, commissions, or other payments due to the suppliers' dealings with Fitstop, its franchisees, or other franchised businesses within the Fitstop system. However, Fitstop retains the right to use these amounts for any purpose it deems appropriate, meaning Fitstop is not obligated to share these rebates or commissions with its franchisees.
This policy means that while Fitstop franchisees may indirectly benefit from negotiated supply contracts that lower prices, they are not entitled to a direct share of any rebates or commissions Fitstop receives. Fitstop has the discretion to use these funds as it sees fit, which could include reinvesting in the system, covering operational costs, or other business-related expenses. This arrangement is fairly common in franchising, where franchisors often negotiate deals with suppliers and retain any resulting benefits.
For a prospective Fitstop franchisee, this highlights the importance of understanding the overall cost structure and potential benefits of the franchise system. While franchisees may not receive direct rebates, they could benefit from the franchisor's ability to negotiate favorable terms with suppliers, potentially leading to lower costs for required purchases. Franchisees should inquire about how Fitstop uses the revenue it derives from supplier rebates and how this impacts the overall value proposition for franchisees.
It is important for potential franchisees to consider this aspect when evaluating the Fitstop franchise opportunity and to discuss with existing franchisees how these arrangements impact their business. Understanding the franchisor's revenue streams and how they are managed can provide a clearer picture of the financial dynamics within the Fitstop franchise system.
