What This Means (2024 FDD)
According to Fitstop's 2024 Franchise Disclosure Document, if Fitstop designates a franchisee for participation in any program, initiative, or campaign, the franchisee must participate when and as required by Fitstop. Fitstop retains the right to select which franchisees will be required to participate in new product or service tests, new or modified product or service offerings, and other programs and initiatives that Fitstop may develop.
This obligation means that a Fitstop franchisee may be required to invest time and resources into programs or initiatives that Fitstop introduces. There are no limits to Fitstop's right to require franchisees to offer and sell new products or participate in these programs, initiatives, and campaigns.
This requirement is fairly standard in franchising, as it allows the franchisor to maintain consistency and introduce system-wide improvements. However, prospective franchisees should consider the potential costs and time commitment associated with participating in these programs and initiatives. Franchisees should also inquire about the typical frequency and scope of such programs to better understand the ongoing obligations.
