Must Fitstop franchisees engage licensed contractors for the buildout?

According to Fitstop's 2024 Franchise Disclosure Document, if you are undertaking the initial build-out of the premises for your Fitstop franchise, you are required to engage licensed contractors. This requirement does not apply if you are purchasing an existing franchise or if you are refurbishing or upgrading the premises. However, even in those cases, certain sections of the FDD may still apply.

Specifically, Fitstop requires franchisees to engage competent, licensed contractors to complete the build-out work in a proper and workmanlike manner, ensuring timely completion. Franchisees are also responsible for managing and supervising the build-out to ensure it is completed by competent, licensed tradesmen.

This requirement ensures that the construction meets quality standards and complies with local regulations. It also means that prospective Fitstop franchisees need to factor in the cost of hiring licensed contractors when budgeting for the initial build-out.
