What This Means (2024 FDD)
According to Fitstop's 2024 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees must adhere to specific requirements regarding telephone and communication systems. Fitstop can request in writing that franchisees install and use specific telephone and communication systems, including point-of-sale hardware and software. Franchisees are also responsible for any costs associated with these systems.
Fitstop also has the right to request changes or upgrades to these systems, including installing new ones that they specify. Additionally, franchisees must ensure these systems are secure from unauthorized access. Franchisees are obligated to pay all charges related to the use of these systems to the telecommunications service provider and must change, substitute, or discontinue any communication number if Fitstop requests it.
While the FDD does not explicitly prohibit using the same phone line for other businesses, the broad control Fitstop exerts over communication systems suggests that franchisees would likely need approval to do so. The requirement to use specified systems and potentially transfer communication numbers to Fitstop indicates that shared phone lines might not be compatible with Fitstop's operational and branding requirements. Therefore, a prospective franchisee should clarify this point with Fitstop before signing the agreement.
