What This Means (2024 FDD)
According to Fitstop's 2024 Franchise Disclosure Document, the additional insured status of Fitstop and its designees applies to both ongoing and completed operations coverage for Comprehensive General Liability and Excess or Umbrella Insurance. This means that the franchisee's insurance policy must protect Fitstop against liabilities arising not only from current operations but also from operations that have been completed.
This requirement ensures that Fitstop is protected from potential claims even after a project or service has been finalized. For a Fitstop franchisee, this means securing insurance coverage that extends beyond the immediate timeframe of service delivery. It's important to verify with the insurance provider that the policy explicitly includes completed operations coverage and that Fitstop and its designees are listed as additional insureds for both ongoing and completed operations.
The franchisee is responsible for ensuring that Fitstop and any designated parties are named as additional insureds on their insurance policies. Furthermore, the franchisee's insurance should act as the primary coverage, meaning Fitstop's insurance should not be required to contribute financially or be liable for the coverage. This protects Fitstop from financial responsibility related to the franchisee's operations.
Fitstop also specifies the required insurance coverage limits. The franchisee must maintain Comprehensive General Liability coverage with a $2,000,000 general aggregate and $2,000,000 for products/completed operations. Additionally, Excess or Umbrella Insurance is required with a $5,000,000 per occurrence and aggregate limit. Franchisees should consult with insurance professionals to ensure they obtain adequate coverage that meets Fitstop's requirements and protects their business from potential liabilities.
