What This Means (2024 FDD)
According to Fitstop's 2024 Franchise Disclosure Document, the build-out section specifically applies to the initial construction of the premises. It does not cover situations where a franchisee purchases an existing Fitstop franchise or undertakes refurbishment or upgrades to an existing location. In those cases, other sections of the agreement will apply.
Fitstop requires franchisees to manage the build-out process to ensure the premises adhere to all system standards and specifications. This includes the design, layout, and the package of furniture, fixtures, and equipment. Franchisees must use approved suppliers for all required items and provide regular updates to Fitstop throughout the build-out phase.
Specifically, franchisees must provide Fitstop with plans for the build-out, including designs, contractors, budgets, and timelines, and receive consent. They are also responsible for engaging licensed contractors, securing appropriate insurance, correcting any defects, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements. Franchisees are also responsible for paying all amounts due in connection with the build-out.
