What This Means (2024 FDD)
According to Fitstop's 2024 Franchise Disclosure Document, the franchisee is generally responsible for the expenses associated with implementing modified standards and specifications for equipment, supplies, or furnishings. Specifically, the franchisee must promptly adopt the modified standards and specifications at their own expense. This includes purchasing any new equipment, supplies, furnishings, or other products required to meet the updated standards.
Fitstop requires franchisees to adhere to the updated standards within 180 days of receiving notice of the changes. This timeframe applies to all similarly-situated franchisees within the Fitstop system, ensuring a consistent brand experience across all locations. The notification of these changes is typically communicated through the Manuals or other written notices.
In addition to general modifications, Fitstop also stipulates that franchisees are responsible for maintaining and refurbishing their premises and equipment at their own cost. This includes keeping the premises clean and tidy, ensuring all fixtures and equipment meet Fitstop's standards, and promptly correcting any deviations from these standards. Franchisees are also obligated to upgrade their premises, furniture, fixtures, and equipment when Fitstop deems it necessary to protect its commercial interests. These upgrades must also be completed at the franchisee's expense within 180 days of notification.
