What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Fat Shack's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, the initial training program includes a total of 5 hours of classroom training. This classroom instruction covers various topics critical to the operation of a Fat Shack franchise. These topics include the history of the Fat Shack brand, schedule management, payroll and accounting, hiring and firing practices, finance and cash management, taxes and insurance, sales and marketing strategies, and a conclusion and question session.
In addition to classroom training, Fat Shack also provides on-the-job training. While the classroom training amounts to 5 hours, the on-the-job training consists of 15 hours. This hands-on training is conducted in Denver or Fort Collins, Colorado, and covers inventory management, kitchen prep, food preparation techniques, food safety and store cleanliness, equipment usage and maintenance, opening and closing duties, customer service, food delivery, and point-of-sale (POS) training and reports.
Prospective franchisees should note that this initial training is mandatory for new franchisees or their General Manager and up to two other designated persons. Fat Shack does not charge for the training itself for up to three individuals, but franchisees are responsible for covering the travel, living expenses, and wages of all employees attending the training. All training is conducted in the Fort Collins, Colorado or Denver, Colorado metro areas, unless Fat Shack elects to conduct training at another location.
