How many Fat Shack franchisee-owned units were open at the end of calendar year 2024?

Fat_Shack Franchise · 2025 FDD

Answer from 2025 FDD Document

  • As shown in Item 20 Tables 1 and 3, we had 24 franchisee-owned Units at the end of calendar year 2024. One franchisee-owned Unit was closed for a significant part of calendar year 2024. Another Unit was operated during part of the year by our affiliate and then transferred to a franchisee, as described above. Since these two Units did not operate the entire year in calendar year 2024 as franchised Units, their Gross Sales are not shown in the second chart. The second chart also excludes the results of one franchised Unit that closed during the year. That closed outlet had not been open less than 12 months at the time it closed.

What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Fat Shack's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, there were 24 franchisee-owned units open at the end of the 2024 calendar year. However, the financial performance data presented in Item 19 only includes 22 of these units.

The FDD indicates that one franchisee-owned unit was closed for a significant portion of 2024, and another unit was operated by an affiliate before being transferred to a franchisee. Because these two units did not operate as franchised units for the entire year, their gross sales were excluded from the financial performance charts. Additionally, the financial results of one franchised unit that closed during the year are also excluded, as it was not open for at least 12 months before closing.

Prospective franchisees should be aware that the financial performance data provided may not be representative of all Fat Shack locations due to these exclusions. It is important to consider the reasons for these exclusions and how they might impact the potential performance of a new franchise location. It would be prudent to discuss these specific circumstances with Fat Shack to gain a better understanding of the factors that influence unit performance.
