What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Fat Shack's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, if you are opening your first Fat Shack restaurant, Fat Shack will provide on-site opening assistance for not less than 30 days. This assistance is provided by one or more of Fat Shack's representatives to help you in opening your Fat Shack Restaurant. If the representatives must travel more than 100 miles and incur room and board expenses, Fat Shack may charge you a fee of $195 per day to offset their food and board costs.
This on-site assistance is a valuable benefit for new franchisees, as it provides direct support and guidance during the critical opening phase. The 30-day minimum ensures that franchisees receive sufficient help to establish their operations. However, franchisees should be aware of the potential for additional costs if travel exceeds 100 miles, which could significantly increase the expenses associated with the opening.
It is important to note that this assistance is not provided if you are exercising your successor franchise rights for a Fat Shack Restaurant that is already operating. This is a common practice in franchising, as successor franchisees are expected to have prior experience with the brand and its operations. The potential fee of $195 per day for travel-related expenses is also a fairly standard arrangement, designed to cover the franchisor's costs for providing on-site support over a longer distance.
