The Fat Shack training program includes both classroom instruction and on-the-job training at an affiliated Fat Shack restaurant in Fort Collins, Colorado, unless hands-on training is arranged at another location. If a franchisee is opening their first Fat Shack restaurant, they will also receive up to 30 days of on-site training at their location. This on-site training is provided to the franchisee and their staff around the time of the restaurant opening to assist in the initial setup and operation. However, this on-site training may be waived if the franchisee has previously operated a Fat Shack restaurant.

Fat Shack also provides additional training opportunities. Franchisees, their General Managers, and other designated managers may be required to attend a national convention annually, which may include mandatory training sessions. Additionally, Fat Shack may require attendance at local or regional seminars or meetings up to two times per year. These additional training programs are at the franchisee's expense. The franchisor may charge up to $1,000 per additional meeting for tuition.
