What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Face Foundrie's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, the background check fee is non-refundable. After applying to become a franchisee or area developer and after the 14-day waiting period following receipt of the disclosure document, prospective franchisees must undergo a background check that includes a criminal/civil record search and a credit check.

The fee for this background check, payable either to Face Foundrie or directly to their background check provider, ranges from $200 to $300 for each owner of the franchise. The total fee is estimated to range from $200 to $600, depending on whether the franchise has one or two owners. If there are more than two owners, the fee may be even higher.

This non-refundable policy means that once the background check fee is paid, it will not be returned, regardless of whether the franchise agreement is ultimately signed or if the application is rejected. This is a fairly standard practice in franchising, as the franchisor incurs costs associated with conducting the background check.
