What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Exit's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, a franchisee is generally required to change their telephone number and assign it to the subfranchisor upon termination of the franchise agreement. However, there is an exception to this rule.

Specifically, an Exit franchisee will not be required to change its telephone number if, at the expiration of the franchise agreement, the franchisee has complied with all of its financial obligations to both Exit and the subfranchisor, and is not otherwise in default of the agreement. This means that if the franchisee has paid all required fees and has adhered to all other terms and conditions of the franchise agreement, they are not obligated to change their phone number upon the agreement's expiration.

This provision provides a benefit to franchisees who maintain good standing throughout the term of their agreement. By fulfilling their financial and contractual obligations, they can avoid the inconvenience and potential business disruption associated with changing their telephone number at the end of the franchise term. This can be a significant advantage, as maintaining a consistent phone number can help retain existing clients and ensure a smooth transition for the franchisee's future business endeavors.
