What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Exit's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, to be eligible for renewal of the franchise agreement, a franchisee must attend the training programs provided by the subfranchisor and Exit for renewing franchisees. This attendance must occur on or before the first day of the renewal term. The franchise agreement can be renewed for either a five-year or ten-year term.
In addition to attending renewal training, the franchisee must meet several other conditions to qualify for renewal. These include compliance with all material terms and conditions of the existing franchise agreement, adherence to Exit's operating and performance standards, providing written notice of intent to renew at least six months before the agreement's expiration, executing the then-current standard franchise agreement, and satisfying all monetary obligations to Exit and the subfranchisor.
Furthermore, the franchisee is required to pay a renewal fee. For a five-year renewal term, the fee is 10% of the then-current initial franchise fee for the franchisee's territory size, but it will not exceed 25% of the initial fee originally paid. For a ten-year renewal term, the fee is 15% of the then-current initial franchise fee, capped at 37.5% of the initial fee paid. Meeting all these conditions ensures the franchisee's eligibility to continue operating under the Exit brand for the subsequent term.
