What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Even Hotels' 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees are required to purchase broadband internet access for their hotel. Specifically, Even Hotels requires franchisees to purchase broadband internet access to establish the primary WAN (wide area network) link. IHG's WAN link will then serve as a backup in case the primary link fails.
This requirement ensures that the hotel has a reliable internet connection for its operations and communication with IHG's systems. The franchisor, IHG, has the right to determine the optimal method of access based on the software and hardware at the hotel, as well as the available telecommunications services. The franchisee does not acquire any ownership interest in the hardware related to the WAN.
IHG or its agents are authorized to enter the hotel property to install, inspect, maintain, and remove the WAN hardware. The franchisee is responsible for providing a suitable location for the WAN hardware installation, including the necessary electrical connections and cable installation. The WAN hardware must meet IHG's specifications and be installed in the hotel's information technology room, clearly labeled, and connected to an uninterruptible power supply. Upon termination of the license, the WAN hardware may need to be de-installed at the franchisee's expense.
