What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Even Hotels' 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees are required to hire qualified, licensed, professional advisors with hotel experience, forming a project team that includes an interior designer with upscale or boutique hotel brand experience. Depending on the project's complexity, the team may also need an architect, engineer, art consultant, lighting consultant, or other specialist. All architects and interior designers must receive approval from Holiday (likely referring to IHG, the parent company) before starting the project.

If an Even Hotels franchisee hires unqualified individuals, any design work they submit will be rejected. Furthermore, the hotel may be subject to Plan default, which can result in an assessment of fees up to $5,000. Even Hotels, at its discretion, may also require the franchisee to remove any non-approved product installed in the hotel that IHG Plan Review has not explicitly approved in writing before installation.

This requirement underscores the importance of using approved and qualified professionals to ensure that the Even Hotels brand standards are met during construction and renovation. Franchisees should contact their Openings Regional Director if they have difficulty finding qualified professionals. Failing to comply with these requirements can lead to financial penalties and the potential need to replace unapproved installations, adding to the overall cost and time of the project.
