What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Even Hotels' 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, information received from IHG Merlin must be used exclusively in the performance of the franchisee's rights and obligations under their license with Holiday regarding an IHG-branded hotel. This information is considered proprietary to Holiday and SCH (Six Continents Hotels) and must be treated as confidential. Access to and use of this information is limited and subject to the express terms and conditions set by Holiday or SCH. IHG Merlin is the primary means of communication from Holiday and SCH to Even Hotels franchisees.
In practical terms, this means an Even Hotels franchisee must maintain the confidentiality of the information they receive through IHG Merlin, using it only to operate their franchise in accordance with the franchise agreement and brand standards. The information obtained through IHG Merlin may include updates to brand standards, marketing solicitations, and other important operational memos. Franchisees need to ensure they have the required technology to access IHG Merlin, including a Microsoft Windows-based PC with the required specifications and a reliable internet service provider (ISP).
Failure to properly handle information from IHG Merlin could lead to a breach of the franchise agreement, potentially resulting in penalties or termination of the agreement. Franchisees should ensure they understand and adhere to all terms and conditions related to the use of IHG Merlin and the information it provides. This is a standard practice in franchising, where maintaining brand consistency and protecting proprietary information are crucial for the success of the entire franchise system.
