What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to the 2025 Even Hotels Franchise Disclosure Document, advertising is created either by Holiday's in-house advertising department or by an outside advertising agency. Funds used for these marketing programs will be used for various activities such as developing advertising materials, conducting market research, and publishing a directory of hotels. These advertising efforts may be implemented on a national, regional, or local scale, utilizing different media platforms like print, radio, television, and billboards, as deemed appropriate by Holiday.
Holiday maintains a separate account for all Services Contribution sums paid by Even Hotels franchisees, other Brand System licensees, and company-owned hotels. These funds, along with any interest or income earned, are specifically earmarked for marketing, reservations, and other related activities. Holiday is permitted to use these funds to cover reasonable administrative costs and overhead expenses related to managing the Reservation System, sales, marketing, and training programs. However, these funds cannot be used for Holiday's general operating expenses.
Even Hotels franchisees can also conduct their own local and regional marketing programs at their own expense, provided they adhere to Holiday's requirements regarding trademark usage. Holiday may charge for optional advertising materials ordered by franchisees for these local initiatives. Franchisees have the option to participate in Hotel Marketing Associations (HMAs) or Co-op Programs, which are marketing arrangements that allow licensees to combine resources for greater marketing impact within a specific geographic area. However, Holiday does not currently intend to establish an advertising council composed of licensees or to establish local or regional advertising cooperatives, although it reserves the right to do so.
