What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to the 2025 Engineering For Kids Franchise Disclosure Document, if a franchisee chooses to renew their franchise agreement, the territory will remain the same during any renewal period.

To renew the franchise agreement, the franchisee must provide written notice of their intent to exercise the option to renew not more than 12 months and not less than 6 months before the agreement expires. The franchisee and all owners must sign and deliver the standard Engineering For Kids Franchise Agreement that is then being offered to new franchisees. The terms of the successor franchise agreement may differ materially from the original agreement, and may require the franchisee to pay different fees.

Additional conditions for renewal include paying all amounts owed to Engineering For Kids, its affiliates, and major suppliers, and not being in default of any agreement. Franchisees must also make any capital expenditures deemed necessary to reflect the current image and operating standards of Engineering For Kids, including upgrading equipment and bringing authorized locations into full compliance. A discounted successor franchise fee of $3,500 must be paid. Finally, the franchisee, operating principal, and/or designated employees must successfully complete any additional or refresher training courses that Engineering For Kids may reasonably require.
