What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to the 2025 Engineering For Kids FDD, before opening, Engineering For Kids will furnish franchisees with standard site selection guidelines, including minimum standards for Third Party Sites and EFK Center Locations. These locations are referred to as "Authorized Locations." Engineering For Kids will also provide general design plans and a basic layout for use at the Authorized Locations. Franchisees are responsible for preparing each Authorized Location for operation at their own expense.

Engineering For Kids will review proposals for EFK Center Locations and may conduct on-site evaluations upon request. However, the responsibility of finding a suitable site rests with the franchisee. The FDD states that the requirements for sites and location development depend on the format of business the franchisee will operate.

Within 60 days of signing the Franchise Agreement, franchisees must identify and secure a location. Engineering For Kids has no obligation to assist in selecting or securing a site and does not lease premises for centers. Franchisees must obtain written approval of the proposed location, submitting a site review report with photographs and demographic information. Engineering For Kids will consider demographic data, square footage, signage, visibility, access, building condition, and parking availability when evaluating a proposed site. If a suitable site is not approved within the initial 60-day search period, an extension of up to 60 days may be granted. Failure to secure a site within the Search Period may result in termination of the Franchise Agreement.
