What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to the 2025 Engineering For Kids FDD, Engineering For Kids will review proposals for an EFK Center Location. As part of their pre-opening obligations, Engineering For Kids will review a franchisee's proposals for an EFK Center Location and conduct on-site evaluations if they deem it advisable in response to a franchisee's request for approval of a proposed EFK Center Location. However, the franchisee is ultimately responsible for finding their own site.

Within 60 days after signing the Franchise Agreement, the franchisee must identify and obtain the right to use a location at their own expense. Engineering For Kids will provide their minimum standards for EFK Center Locations. The franchisee must notify Engineering For Kids of the proposed site and submit a site review report, including photographs, demographic information, and other information that Engineering For Kids may require. Within 30 days after receiving the information, Engineering For Kids will approve or reject the proposed site in writing. If Engineering For Kids disapproves a proposed site, the franchisee can submit another proposal.

In evaluating a proposed site, Engineering For Kids will consider demographic data provided by the franchisee, as well as other information regarding the characteristics of the location and area. This includes the square footage of dedicated space available, signage and visibility, access, condition of the building where the site is located, and the availability of parking. If the franchisee used their best efforts but has not identified a suitable site that Engineering For Kids approves by the end of the initial 60-day search period, Engineering For Kids may extend the search period by up to 60 days. Failure to acquire or lease a site for the EFK Center Location within the search period will result in default under the Franchise Agreement, giving Engineering For Kids the right to terminate the Franchise Agreement.
