Answer from 2025 FDD Document

We are in the business of operating and franchising others to operate "Engineering For Kids" educational activity and program businesses that use our System and our Proprietary Marks (each is an "Engineering For Kids Business" or "Business").

Engineering For Kids Businesses provide educational activities, namely, providing seminars, classes, camps, workshops, conferences, and programs in the fields of math, science, technology, and engineering using specified business formats, methods, procedures, designs, layouts, brand standards, and specifications, items and products that we may designate or approve from time to time ("Programs").

Additionally, we may periodically establish rules, guidelines and policies regarding you and other franchisee participation in other promotional activities and events (including without limitation, camp fairs and school fairs) that will or are reasonably expected to serve or draw potential customers and/or Third-Party Sites located in geographic areas serviced by more than one Engineering For Kids Business and/or in connection with Virtual Programs (during any period in which we may authorize or require Virtual Programs).

You, the Operating Principal, and/or your designated employees must successfully complete any additional or refresher training courses that we may reasonably require.

What This Means (2025 FDD)

The 2025 Engineering For Kids Franchise Disclosure Document states that Engineering For Kids Businesses provide educational activities, namely, providing seminars, classes, camps, workshops, conferences, and programs in the fields of math, science, technology, and engineering. However, the document does not explicitly state whether franchisees or their Operating Principal are required to attend these conferences. The document does state that Engineering For Kids may establish rules, guidelines, and policies regarding franchisee participation in promotional activities and events, which could potentially include conferences. Also, to renew the franchise agreement, the Operating Principal may be required to complete additional or refresher training courses.

Because the FDD does not specify mandatory conference attendance, it remains unclear whether Engineering For Kids franchisees or their Operating Principals must attend conferences.

A prospective franchisee should seek clarification from Engineering For Kids regarding any requirements or expectations for franchisees or their Operating Principals to attend conferences, seminars, or other events. This inquiry should cover the frequency, location, duration, and associated costs of any such required events.
