What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Engineering For Kids' 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, Engineering For Kids has the authority to modify the specifications and components of the Computer System that franchisees are required to use. The Computer System includes the computer hardware, operating software, and communications capabilities specified by Engineering For Kids. More details about the Computer System are available in Item 11, and the estimated costs are in Items 6 and 7 of the FDD.

In addition to the Computer System, franchisees must also obtain laptop computers and tablets for use in conducting the Programs. Franchisees have the flexibility to choose their suppliers for these items, provided that the items meet Engineering For Kids' standards and specifications. This suggests that while Engineering For Kids maintains control over the core Computer System's specifications, franchisees have some autonomy in selecting other hardware, as long as they adhere to the brand's standards.

This requirement ensures that all Engineering For Kids locations operate with a standardized technology setup, which can help maintain consistency and quality across the franchise system. However, it also means that franchisees must be prepared to adapt to any changes Engineering For Kids makes to the Computer System, potentially incurring additional costs if upgrades or replacements are necessary. Prospective franchisees should carefully review Items 6, 7, and 11 of the FDD to fully understand the Computer System requirements and associated costs.
