What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Engineering For Kids' 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees must provide unimpeded access to their Computer System and Required Software. This access includes all information and data maintained on the system. The access must be provided in the manner, form, and at the times that Engineering For Kids requests.
This requirement means that Engineering For Kids has broad authority to inspect and extract data from the franchisee's computer systems. The franchisee must be prepared to accommodate these requests, which could involve providing remote access, generating specific reports, or allowing on-site inspections. The FDD also states that franchisees must implement, periodically upgrade, and make other changes to the Computer System and Required Software as Engineering For Kids may reasonably request in writing, which may include monthly licensing and support fees and/or other charges.
Engineering For Kids also states that all data pertaining to the Franchised Business is owned exclusively by them. This includes any data collected regarding customers, clients, and participants. Engineering For Kids has the right to use this data in any manner they deem appropriate without compensating the franchisee. The franchisee is granted a royalty-free, non-exclusive license to use the data only in connection with operating the Franchised Business and in accordance with Engineering For Kids' policies. Franchisees cannot sell, transfer, or use the data for any purpose other than operating the Engineering For Kids business and marketing their programs and services.
